What hiring in Fujairah is actually like

The paperwork is federal and the same everywhere. Everything else about hiring here is local.

Fujairah is the only emirate on the Gulf of Oman, and the mountains behind it shape the whole hiring market. Candidates do not drift in from Dubai the way they do along the west coast, so households here recruit deliberately and keep people for years.

The mountain road is the whole story
Everything west of Fujairah comes over the pass at Masafi. It is an hour and a half to Dubai in good traffic and considerably more on a Friday. Treat a candidate living on the other side as relocating, not commuting.
A port town hires like a port town
Shipping, bunkering and the free zone bring a working population in on rotas and contracts. Households here are used to written terms, fixed days off and a start date that is actually kept, and candidates expect the same in return.
Emirati households are a bigger share
A larger proportion of families here are local, and Arabic in the home matters more than it does in Dubai. Say in your requirement whether you want the children spoken to in Arabic, because it changes who replies.
Dibba is its own market
The north of the emirate runs along a single coast road. A family in Dibba and a family in Fujairah city are not drawing on the same local pool, and a candidate will not travel between the two daily.

What families pay in Fujairah

Fujairah salaries sit at the lower end of the national range for comparable work, though live-in accommodation and food form a larger part of the package here. Families who bring someone from another emirate usually need to match what she earned there.

These are the ranges families and candidates agree between themselves. We do not set them, take a share of them, or charge a placement fee.

Questions families in Fujairah ask

Will a candidate really move to the east coast?
Many will, for a live-in role with a proper room and a settled family. What they want to know is how they get over the mountain on a day off and whether anyone else they know lives nearby. Answer both in your requirement.
Does she need Arabic to work in Fujairah?
Not always, but it comes up far more often here than in Dubai. If your household speaks Arabic, a candidate who can follow a conversation will settle in much faster than one working through English alone.
Is a school run realistic along the coast road?
Only inside one town. Fujairah city to Dibba twice a day is not a sensible part of a domestic role, and a candidate who agrees to it in the interview will usually ask to stop within a month.
How do I handle her day off here?
Decide it before she accepts. Most Fujairah households either run her into town or agree a day that lets her travel properly. It is the single most common reason east coast arrangements end early.
